Piper Super Cub L-18 serial 18-1629 9 was OO-MEU)

I have just purchased this aeroplane and understand it flew with the Belgian Air force before spending many years at Namur as OO-MEUcan anybody tell me anything about the history of this plane and even send some photos??? thanks to you all anthony.myers57@ntlworld.com Do you find this valuable? |

Hello, Sorry to inform you but according to my data 18-1629 never served in the Belgian Air Force, but in the French Army. I have the following history for it : Piper L18C Supercub c/n 18-1629, ex 51-15629 French Army 181629/F-MCBT (OO-HNG ntu) 15-2-1972 registered OO-MEU to a Marc Meulemen, Moorsele 2-5-1972 crashed, but repaired 1994 cancelled 11-1996 to G-BWUO 1997 to N7328X I hope this helps. "I have just purchased this aeroplane and understand it flew with the Belgian Air force before spending many years at Namur as OO-MEUI have been the owner for many years in Moorsele (EBMO) I sold it to Georges Bertrand (Publi-Air) and later also L-18 OO-LIE I'll come back to you later for the history of this L-18 together with 32 other L-18 and 19 bought by Aero-Nord in Moorsele , must have been around 1969-1970 Do you find this valuable? |

"I have just purchased this aeroplane and understand it flew with the Belgian Air force before spending many years at Namur as OO-MEUearly 1968 about 32 L-18 ( 90 hp and the 135 hp) were bought by NV Aero-Nord together with Frans Vanderstraeten from Lebbeke , they all got a temporary registration OO-H..; these Cubs had been donated by the Americans to the French Armée de Terre, probably in the early fifties, and had been sitting since 3-4 years in Valence and Rennes , from end august we flew them to Moorsele , I guess in Valence there must have been around 300 of these aircraft , some were in pretty poor state , I think that some of them have been sold to the Belgian Air Cadets for glidertowing (135 hp) Do you find this valuable? |

HelloI soloed on the OO-MEU in march 1975 when I was 16 years and 27 days old. I did that after beeing released for that flight by my instructor owner Marc Meuleman. Still have pictures of this memorable flight, the take off , landing and the baptising that followed. One of these days I scan the pics & sent them to you. In 1975 some more L18 were operating at EBMO , the OO-MEU, OO-BOQ, OO-LIE, OOMJD. The last was owned by a flying group called "Blauwvoet", and had an extra bubble in the middle of the engine hood to cover a generator. Do you find this valuable? |

"Hellodag Walther, ik heb je laatste mail gezien maar ik begrijp dit systeem Wetpaint niet zeer goed , ik zal wel iets verkeerd gedaan hebben , je tekst is verdwenen ;dit hele Wetpaint lijkt me ook niet zeer Belgisch , wie maakt dit eigenlijk ? ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik je niet meer kan thuiswijzen , sorry, het is wel zo dat we in de jaren '75-'85 zeer druk bezig waren in Moorsele , de MEU en de LIE heb ik aan Bertrand verkocht (Publi-Air Grimberegen en Temploux) , de BOQ is naar de Aero Paraclub van Spa gegaan ; ja dat waren andere (goeie) tijden bedankt voor je bericht en beste groeten , waar zit jij ergens ? marc Do you find this valuable? |

Hallo Marc,Moest je foto s van vroeger zien dan herken je gelijk, ik was altijd bij Frans Dewulf om vliegtuigen te kuisen, zat de weekends in het huisje om luchtdopen te verkopen, ben later bij de Luchtkadetten gaan zweven, daarna bij de Lum ongeveer 110 uren marchetti gedaan, verder 10 jaar op de toren van ebkt gewerkt in de weekends,vloog voor ockier met de be33 oo-eod en hebben ooit nog samen met de eod naar ellx gevlogen, moest je daar voor een of andere reden afzetten. Heb laten een sicile record gehad, een zwarte, oo ipz , vlieg nu bij bernard op c172, c150, RZAC met al hun toestellen inclusief de ulm Woon in Cadzand, werk in Menen en ben nog veel bij mijn moeder van 91 in roeselare, geef me eens je e mail door, blijkbaar ben je terug in belgie. Ik vloog jarenlang met gilbert verzele samen, op zijn pa28 en zijn mooney s eigenlijk tot aan zijn dood. mvg Walther Do you find this valuable? |
