The use of the crest of Chimay on the flagship of 2nd Sqn is quite strange. Indeed Chimay was and is the ‘godmother’ of the 1st Sqh. The ‘godmother of the 2nd Sqn was Dinant.

In the French Aéro Journal n°26 (Aug-Sept 2002) p.21 (Les Breguet au combat - Voyage au bout de l'enfer) p.12.
I read that SABCA (along the 31 Br.694) was also due to bulid 10 Br.693 (the basic version). Does somebody know more abour them. Were they intended for the Belgian o the Frenc Aviation (or for export?).

Following the Dutch xebsite 'www.scramble.nl', the Lebanese AF brought 4 Hunter back in service in November 2008. Among them is the Hunter T.66C 'L-286' (a photo is included on the website', modified from the the former Belgian AF IF-60. Yes I see you indentie this plane as becoming 'L(281' but eithe it's a mistake or as somme other Lebanese Hunter, it vhanged it's indentity in the '70's. But I have a lot of sources giving me the 'last' L-286 as being the the former IF-60.

When I was a little boy, we lived in Quaregnon. My mother sent me to a preventorium in Biez. There was an airbase near by as I constantly saw Meteors coming in for landing. I also saw what I would guess were F-84's but not sure. I probably was around 8 or 9 years old and not too familiar with many aircraft except the Meteor. One day they took us for a walk. I didn't think there was nothing out of the ordinary as we used to take walks around the village. This walk I remember very vividly. As we walked along a pasture, we suddenly came upon an aircraft laying on the road. There were tents set up with military guards. The lady who took all the kids for a walk explained that the pilot had crash landed in the field. The aircraft skidded all the way across the pasture, through the fence and across the road, partially damaging a telephone pole. There were also railroad tracks running across the road at an angle, and the aircraft had crossed across the tracks before stopping on the road. I was very exited. I loved airplanes ever since I was a little child. At the preventorium, I watched as the Meteors came in on their landing pattern to the near by airfield, but now I could see one close up. It was an F-8, the front of the meteor was intact and right side up, however, past the trailing edge of the wings, the fuselage was severed and from that section to the tail, it was completely upside down. We were told the pilot ran out of fuel before he could make the airport and that he was OK but suffered back injuries. This would be somewhere around 1956, 1957 even 1958. It was so long ago. Any info about this incident?

I have just been flying an L-18C, Piper Super Cub, OY-TOM, here in Denmark, and looking at the history of that plane, I noticed that it has been under Belgian registry, after French army. From the USAF registry, I got the following: "Piper L-18C Super Cub, PA-18 Super Cub 95 for Army use.15639 (c/n 18-1639) to French Army as 181639. Became OO-SPN Jan 14, 1970, later became OY-TOM". What i would like to ask in this forum is where can I ifnd more info on this plane while under Belgian registration (and before)? I have noticed that a number of planes were passed on to Denmark (a lot of which burned in a hangar fire by the way) but the serial 1639 was apparently not among those transferred to the Danish Airforce. We only have logs here from when it entered civilian register in 1971 OY-TOM

Following all other sources, the date of the crash is the 9 (not the 15) of June.
I can add that, in this time, my father (who worked for the Militayr Geographical Institute) was present in Albertville and saw the accident). The pane was full of oxygen bottles (the Dakota wasn't pressurised), wich exploded as bombs. He also saw one of the crew (co-pilot?) escaping through the (very narrow) triangular window of the cockpit. Regards Philou

Dear All Aviation Enthusiasts
I own Lockheed C-2 ejection seat from an F - 104G, it is made by Canadair with P/N 792987-101 l4 and S/N LS683D / 6017 under Contract No AF 33 / 657 / 9261, which I have restore to 60% original and which I use as a desk chair in my office at home. In order to improve it I would like to know if it possible to find items like the Survival Kit pack, Parachute pack (empty) or the oxygen houses etc to bring it as close to the original as possible. (I had find it back in 1993 in junk Scrapyard with ex military staff) Thank you in advance for your time and concern to my query. Kind Regards aetosjm

Please, I would like to know if there is anyone who can help me. I am looking forward some information about the mirage which did not crashed in 1973, some killometers out of Souda The other 2 ...BA 32, BA 38 did and unfortunately both of the pilots died...but the third plane when they decided to return in Souda due to the bad weather, I thought he was flying higher than the others, so thats why he didn't crashed into Mount Kaloros as the others two did. I know that he landed in the gulf Souda. If i had Just the name of him and his aircraft. Thaks anyway!

I would love to ask some questions concerning the Hunter F6 story.
1. Your comment on the sawtooth being a trademark of the Hunter F6, I would love to refer to the book Luchtstrijdkrachten België in which a picture is published of IF41 with a straight wing! 2. I do not understand why you state in your text 7W received the first F6 while in your aircraft listings 9W received the first aircraft? 3. To my knowledge only 8sq received initially the F6 while 7sq continued to use the F4. When you count the aircraft from your listing you will note that till the end of 59 there were within 7W only sufficient aircraft for 1 squadron. Furthermore you state that in 60 the use of squadron codes is discontinued. So can you explain the picture of IF127. What adds to my confusion is that you give dec60 as delivery date of this aircraft to 7W! Can you please cjarify! 4. You state that 9W was disbanded in feb60, while the squadrons only disbanded in april 60 and the wing in jun60. If I take your list in april 60 you have the last aircraft leaving. 5. I do not get the connection between your 9 wing in the text and the 9 Wing Missiles. The latter receiving this name on 17sep63! The first Nike unit 3 WETSA was formed 06oct59 and was renamed 13 Wing. So..... 6. Your picture of IF61 seems to depict the same aircraft as you picture of IF81, but on the other side....am I correct?

Are you sure that the FX48 ended in Beauvechain? Your stories of FX47 and FX48 are very similar (use of the tail of FX69 for both planes).
I don't find any othe mention of the presence of FX48 for preservation in Beauvechain and the website 'www.scramble.nl' gives it as sent to Taiwan. I have no other source. Regards Philou
