The pilot flew to an empty area near Florennes and subsequently ejected. But prior to take-off the pilot had to change planes as his original aircraft was unserviceable. Unfortunately the pilot had forgottento connect his 'parachute-lanyard' harnassproperlyduring strap-in, which would have assured him of an automatic opening of the parachute, and as he ejected at low altitude he had no time to open his parachute manually and was killed during the ejection. Pilot: Maj. Wally D'Haese (ex CO 349 Squadron, flew as visiting pilot).
