  • 230659: Cat.4 During a flight near Roermond (Netherlands) at an altitude of 2000ft, the pilot noticed an explosion in the aircraft. The cockpit immediately filled with grey smoke, so he barely could read the instruments, but he noticed that the complete electrical system had failed. Helped by his wingman he tried to reach the nearest base, Kleine Brogel. The landinggear was lowered with the back-up system, but the nosewheel was only half lowered. Also the speedbrakes and the flaps were out of service (no electrical system), so the pilot had to make a very 'flat' landing. The nosewheel collapsed which caused serious damage to the camera compartment. Pilot was ok, 1Lt.vl.Catteeuw.
