I have made some researches about the DH Heron, I just found one used in Belgian Congo ...
c/n14055 Heron 2
G-ANPV T. I - Group Services Ltd
acquired by the Belgian Government, 12/05/54
OT-CGG Governor General of Congo
retired, 1960
after the independence of Congo, used by Katangese Premier Moïse Tshombe
KAT-01 Aviakat/Force Aérienne Katangaise/Katanga Air Force, 1960-61
during the secession of the province Katanga under president Tshombe, 11/07/60
based at Luano airfield
the majority of Avikat's airplanes were seized by UN Force during operation “Rum Punch”at Lubumbashi, 28/08/61
possible destroyed during UNO’s bombing at Kolwezi, 22/02/62
Is this Heron the sole operated in Congo ? Was this Heron assigned to the Force Publique and used by the General Gonernor ?
Thanks for informations ...

Goor Morning,
As soon as I have some more time I will be more active on my BMAD and I will include of course more aircraft and certainly those of the Force Publique. I can give you the following information on this unique Heron:
OO-CGG 14055 120554 Sold to the Gouverneur Général du Congo Belge (CGG) 250554 dd. to Force Publique 190555 Used by King Boudewijn for his summer 1955 (190555>090655) visit of Belgian Congo 290660 To be transferred to the Congolese Government as OT-CFZ but captured by Katangan rebels. ..0760 Transferred to BAKA by Belgian authorities upon arrival of UN troops at N’Djilli. ..0760 Transferred to the Aviation Katangaise as KAT 01 and used by Premier Moise Tshombe. ..0861 recaptured by UN troops at Elisabethville and destroyed according to some unconfirmed sources 260862 to Etat du Katanga as KA-THA ...... eventually destroyed
As most information is an expansion of what is mentioned in my book "Luchtstijdkrachten België" edited by Flash Aviation, I can recommend you to have a look there awaiting more updates on the BMAD.
Best regards,
Daniel "Toxisch" Brackx
